In the last decade, we've seen three Luke Skywalker figures based on his appearance on Bespin. The first came in 2003's Saga Collection, and it was actually an outstanding figure for its time, with twelve points of articulation and a lot of awesome accessories. However, it suffered from one of the bad action features that were common in the Saga Collection days, and also had a pretty wide leg stance that prevented it from achieving more neutral poses. Fast forward to 2007's Vintage 30th Anniversary Collection, in which we received a new Luke Skywalker figure that was a vast improvement, but with one huge flaw: a terrible headsculpt. Now, in the first wave of The Vintage Collection, we've finally received an absolutely perfect Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues) figure that makes all prior releases totally obsolete (even though it couldn't hurt to keep the Saga version around just for all its cool accessories). The 2010 Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues) figure is super articulated, and even has ball-joint hips for an incredible range of articulation. You can pose Luke walking through corrdiors on Bespin or in the middle of his action-packed duel with Dad. And the best part is that the sculpt is not only highly detailed but also does a wonderful job of hiding all of the figure's articulation. Lots of articulation is great, but it can sometimes be an eye sore when not done properly. This figure may not include the cool accessories its 2003 predecessor had, but the great thing about this figure is that its the first release of Luke in this outfit that includes a lightsaber hilt that can attach to the belt. Luke also includes his lit blue lightsaber and a blaster pistol that fits nicely in a working holster. The headsculpt is great too, even though the hair color may be just slightly off. Overall, this figure is pretty much perfect in every way, and an absolutely essential addition to any Star Wars action figure collection! It's been one of the first figures to go whenever The Empire Strikes Back wave hits shelves, and I highly recommend that you pick it up when you see it. This figure is a total blast! Hopefully we'll see some more new releases of Luke in his various outfits (farmboy, Yavin medal ceremony, etc.) of the same high quality in the near future.
