Who would have thought that after thirty years there’d still be a unique version of Han Solo that hadn’t yet been produced in Hasbro’s action figure line? Han Solo as he appeared while he was making repairs to the Millenium Falcon at the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back (with an open jacket) was a great candidate for a new Han Solo action figure release, and Hasbro did a pretty good job with it. This figure mostly re-uses parts from Han Solo (Trench Coat) from 2006’s Vintage The Saga Collection line, which made a good base figure but unfortunately isn’t free of issues. The main problem with that figure that ended up affecting this one as well is the strange looking waist articulation. This figure would look so much better if it just had a swivel waist joint instead of a ball joint that cuts across the figure’s chest. Another minor problem is that this figure’s legs seem a little too skinny. Other than those two small issues, this is a very good figure. It has a new headsculpt with an excellent likeness, as well as a vest that can be removed (but isn’t meant to be). In addition to his trusty blaster pistol, Han Solo (Echo Base Outfit) also includes two awesome scene-specific accessories, a welding mask and a torch. He looks great working with Chewie on the BMF (Big Millennium Falcon) that we hope everyone has in their collection. Han Solo (Echo Base Outfit) is definitely a worthwhile purchase, even if you already own other versions of Han Solo as he appeared on Hoth. This figure may not look like much, but it’s got it where it counts.
